A mattress is a very important (if not the most important) element of the bedroom and it is worth to devote a little more time and attention when choosing it.
At the beginning we should pay attention to the basic thing – the dimension of the mattress. It is good if the mattress is about 20 cm longer than your height. However, as far as width is concerned, it is most convenient when one person has at least 90 cm of space at his disposal. Unfortunately, taking into account the size of many Polish flats, we do not always have the possibility to put such a wide bed.
Nowadays there are many types of mattresses on the market – bonell, pocket, foam, latex… How not to get lost and choose the right one? First of all, do not suggest the opinion of third parties. Of course, you can check the suggestion of friends who have bought a mattress and are satisfied with it. However, remember to choose your mattress underneath and check its hardness before buying it – to do this you should lie down on the mattress (do not sit down and check its hardness with your hand!) – only then we will judge it best.
The mattress should be flat, it should adapt to our spine. This is extremely important because the mattress should be neither too hard nor too soft. It is not true that the harder the mattresses online is, the better for your spine – this is a very individual issue. Sleeping on a mattress that is too hard can cause circulation problems and numbness when you wake up. On the other hand, a mattress that is too soft can cause spinal pains, because our body will sink on it. It is therefore important to choose your mattress underneath, your preferences and body weight. But what if our other half prefers a different hardness than us, or is much lighter or heavier than us? If we are not able to choose the same mattress for ourselves and our partner, we can choose two different mattresses, it is only worth choosing the same height – then the combination will not be noticeable.
